Benefits of Being an FFA Member

Leadership Skills -

FFA is the largest student run organization in the country, and provides some of the best leadership training.  This not only helps in High School, but can become of use later on in life as well.  Becoming a student leader also allows you to gain numerous responsibilities because you must respect yourself, gain respect from others, learn how to manage your time, think quickly and creatively, and share new ideas.  To help with these skills, the FFA hosts leadership training conferences at all levels of the organization.

Travel -

Many people love to travel.  Through the FFA you can go on local trips in town as well as exchange trips out of the country.  The opportunities are endless.  Most trips are educational and fun at the same time as well.  You can learn things and meet new people while mingling with FFA members from other chapters.

Earning Money -

Everyone can use extra cash.  Through Supervised Agricultural Experience Programs (SAEP's) most members can earn money, with amounts varying as to what their project is.  You can also earn money from the FFA when you compete for and win awards like SAE proficiency awards, and finish at the top for a career development event that you competed in.  The FFA also gives out a lot of money each year in scholarships at all levels.  The National FFA Foundation gives out over $1 Million per year to FFA members across the country.

Teamwork -

Some people love it while others dislike it.  In FFA there are many opportunities to be part of a team.  Teamwork skills can be essential later on in most careers.  Opportunities where the FFA provides for teamwork include judging teams, event committees, and officer teams.

Community Service -

Through the FFA you can make your community a better place to live for all in many ways.  This can include helping the less fortunate through a food drive, picking up garbage along the streets, or landscaping a public area that everyone in town sees.  The possibilities are endless.

Fun -

Having Fun is probably the most important part of being part of the FFA.  Activities and events are interesting and exciting.  If it is not fun, then it is probably not part of the FFA.
