Mr. William Davenport

THE 2004 CONNECTICUT STATE TEACHER OF THE YEAR & THE RECIPIENT OF THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF AGRICULTURAL EDUCATORS OUTSTANDING TEACHER AWARD FOR THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES!

I was born and raised on a dairy farm in Litchfield, where I still live. I am actively involved with my brother Jim's dairy herd in Ancram, New York, where I own 25 registered  Aryshires and Holsteins in the herd.

I attended the University of Connecticut, receiving my Bachelor's (1985) and Master's Degrees (1986) in Animal Science as well as my teacher certification. I also completed my 6th year Diploma in Administration and Supervision in 1994 at Southern Connecticut State University.

I was hired on July 1, 1986 at Nonnewaug and am now in my 19th year teaching here.

I have coached several different CDE teams over the past 18 years. I presently coach the following teams: Ag Communications, Dairy Judging, Meats Judging, Food Science, Poultry Judging and Dairy Products. I also help coach the Parliamentary Team.
