Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAEP) |
Junior/ Senior Classes Junior and senior students are in Agriscience classes together. Most students pick one class from the seven offered to take for the entire year for 1.5 High School credits. Others take one class first semester and another second semester. If a student's schedule permits, a junior or a senior can take two Agriscience classes at the same time for the whole year or half of the year. Juniors and seniors have a single period class everyday and a double period every other day. The classes are designed so that they are on an alternating two year curriculum. This is so that if a student takes conservation, for example both junior and senior years, they will not have the same lessons each year. They will both be totally different. There might be tree climbing one year and wildlife management the other. Therefore, if a student wants to learn everything that is offered in a particular class, they must take it both junior and senior years. If students want to they can take two different classes for their junior and senior years, but they will not get the full curriculum for any one class. To choose what classes students want to take, as sophomores or juniors they fill out a form with their top choice. Students then can fill out another section if they would like to take a second Agriscience class. The staff must look at numbers and see if one class or two classes are needed for each subject and then when filling the spots they keep in mind the 15 student limit per class. If a student gets into a class and they do not like it they can then transfer to another class if it is within two weeks of the start of the semester. Click on any of the seven subject areas below to see a more detailed description of that class - |
