Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAEP) |
Freshmen Classes Incoming freshmen do not have the option to choose their Agriscience class. There is one class that is offered with a standard curriculum for all freshmen Agriscience students. This class is for one period everyday and is worth 1 High School credit. The class is divided into five parts (one for each marking period, with the exception of tractor driving and the FFA unit, which are combined into a single marking period. Each marking period is approximately 10 weeks long). This course is designed to expose students to all areas of the program so that they can get a feel for which classes they want to take and even if they want to stay in the Agri-Science program. The Five courses are, introduction to FFA/ tractor driving, animal science, plant science, and Ag mechanics. Every student has the introduction to FFA/ tractor driving the first marking period. Some students have tractor driving first and introduction to FFA second or it can be the other way around for five weeks on each subject. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th marking periods are when the other three classes occur. They are done in different order so that for example 80 - 90 Freshmen students are not working on projects in the shop or working with the animals on the same day. All of the Agriscience teachers can teach any freshmen class. Some freshmen students may have the same Agriscience teacher all year while others will have four different ones. Click on any of the five subject areas below to see a more detailed description of that class - |
